John and the trail

John is running a 30 mile trail race in the next couple of week and he got the jitters. All I can say “time to buck up”.
Hydrate and goo!!!
Good luck and keep those ankles rapped.
O and its his first trail race of any distance, so lets all pull for him.

  1. jitters are turning to pump its up to the mind to carry me through and maybe another person to carry me at the end

    • Good Luck! When and where is the race?

      • I think it is this weekend
        Dont know where

  2. it is in mt home or allison ar but no one seems to have ever heard of allison and i think it is because only 250 people live there.

    • Good luck hope everything goes good and happy birthday. For all of u John turned 28 yesterday. His home and grandmother came in town for his birth and the big run. Good luck and let us all know how it turns out.

      • RACE REPORT!!

pre race- we left the night before, it is a 2 hr drive at conway i realized i forgot my shoes so we turned around. finally we get there and i feel like throwing up until they sound the horn the next morning. went to bed around 11 woke up at 4:30 at half a cliff bar and ate all my supps in bed. got up made bfst. and waited.

race- start was awsome maybe too awsome, finishd the first 6 in 1 hr and 15 min, just pissed and guued and kept going (nothing could stop me) except the mountain that imiedietly followed the bathroom. walked all the mt’s and ran the down hills. 2nd aid station felt great filled up water ran every bit of that first 1.5 of the 4.7( cause it is flat) then the rolling mt. carving. got to the turn around a different man. sat for 15 min fueled, supplemented, i was desperate here this was going to suck. i pushed on ran that first 4.7 finished 15 or 20 min faster. by the time i got to gunner pool round 2 i sent a text to my mom of all people and told her “i think i am going to have to quit”. then a guy i had been back and forth with showed up and told me he did not think he was ever going to catch me, that sounded like motivation to me. i told my self only 5 to go to the next aid station i will just quite there. this was the worst part. the two highest peaks are on this leg. all that time i made up would disapear here, as everyone passed me. on the last leg which is mostly flat. i thought i had a stress fracture, and talked all kinds of shit to my self about h ow i would be banging out tis last 5 if it wasent for this injury, then i found out my brace was too tight.(allright shit talker time to start running) so i did, and i passed everyone that passed me. picked off one by one, all the big girls that passed me that made me want to throw my self off a cliff. passed them all i beat everyone that passed in the previous leg by at least a minute. 8:03 sounds slow but this is not a stroll up the street it took every last bit of energy and will power i had.

post race- very simple; no walking, no sitting, no shoes, no hungry, no pooping, no talking, 2 beers, 1 scotch, 2 lorecet, 12 hours sleep

for the last 3 days i have been eating non stop, barely walking, have been constipated, and frequently get shooting pains in strange parts of my body. and today finally i feel good except my feet and ankles are still swollen,

this was the best thing i have ever done physically. so with that said
APRIL 18th OUACHITA TRAIL 50 K who’s with me from maumelle park to the scenic vitsa and back

  3. GREAT JOB! CONGRATS!
